my back door, inland through the mountains, lured me again and again.
time moves even slower here and the ruralness of it all provides
an escape nog further away, smelling of older more peaceful times

this farmer's pumpkin display: from the road along the valley flank,
one looks down on to the farm homestead. i'm not sure where the
pumpkin-on-the-roof habit is from, either to keep roofs down or
ripen the pumpkins, maybe both. for good measure in this case, he
must've cut them open to display to passing traffic the orange ripe
pumpkins for sale
on the other side of the shed, the valley drops away and in the
distance on the opposite foot hill, dairy cows are grazing into
view
