ovamboland revisited
i went with on a magnetic survey for the observatory to northern
Namibia to get it over with before whatever sinister was going to
happen with independence negotiations and the feared UN resolution
435
there was a light up somewhere but we had to fly under it, the war
was by no means over. this was sector een-zero and aircraft stay
low
here, North of Oshakati on the way to Ruacana, in Angola or then
maybe not. we were put down and take out next day from some airstrip
somewhere and left the next day
fun flying. the shonas were full after good summer rains and the
pilots would go real low. sometimes daring it lower than the macalani
palm trees
daily cumulus buildups filled the sky
